AccesS Suite #9 - RE Geographical Information System

The RE Geographical Information System (GIS) builds upon and extends the RE Suite of DEMO Consultants, which is a software solution for collecting, structuring, analysing and disclosing real estate information. The term 'RE' stands for Real Estate, encompassing both building and civil infrastructure (in total aka the built environment), while 'Suite' represents a collection of software components, providing a cohesive and integrated solution. The RE Suite encompasses a range of applications designed to support various aspects of real estate management life cycle.

RE GIS extends the RE Suite with geospatial intelligence by integrating real estate data into 2D and 3D GIS environments, enabling location-based analysis and visualization of assets within their spatial and environmental context. It provides optical detection and intuitive exploration of properties in high quality 3D maps, allowing users to identify spatial relationships, patterns, and risks across portfolios, districts, and cities. RE GIS supports multiple Levels of Detail (LoD) per property, ranging from high level overviews such as location, footprint, and zoning to detailed building, component, and condition information, aligned with standards such as GIS, CityGML, and BIM.

Under this context, the RE GIS module supports the AccesS BOMS and AccesS Suite by enabling spatially explicit evaluation of building accessibility. The GIS environment allows users to select buildings on the map, review their accessibility characteristics, and contribute new assessments through a structured scoring system. The methodology implemented in RE GIS takes into consideration the principles and scoring structure identified within WP3, which lays the foundation for the AccesS Accessibility Assessment Scheme, currently under development within WP8. The aim is to operationalize its principles in a digital, user-friendly form based on user-generated feedback and scoring user experience.
