Seriake Dickson Alleges Akpabio Attempted to Silence Him for Opposing Tinubu’s Emergency Rule in Rivers

Former Bayelsa State Governor and serving Senator, Seriake Dickson, has claimed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio attempted to silence him for speaking out against an alleged plan by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to impose a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Dickson revealed that his firm opposition to the proposed emergency rule led to efforts to suppress his voice within the Senate. He accused Akpabio of using his position to stifle dissenting views and prevent open debate on critical national issues, particularly the ongoing political crisis in Rivers.

The senator emphasized that his stance was rooted in the need to uphold democracy and ensure that constitutional processes were followed in resolving conflicts rather than resorting to extreme measures. He warned against any moves that could destabilize the state or undermine democratic governance.

Dickson further urged his colleagues in the Senate and the wider public to remain vigilant and resist any attempts to use political power to silence opposing voices or suppress democratic principles.
