Pillars of creation ✨ #space #science #astronomy #shorts #viralshorts #spaceexploration

The Pillars of Creation is one of the most famous and visually stunning regions of space, located within the Eagle Nebula (Messier 16), about 6,500–7,000 light-years away from Earth. It was first captured in incredible detail by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995, and later revisited with more advanced imaging in 2014 and 2022.

Structure and Composition

The "pillars" are massive columns of interstellar gas and dust, stretching up to 4–5 light-years in length. They are composed mainly of hydrogen and dust, acting as stellar nurseries where new stars are born. The towering structures are sculpted by intense radiation and stellar winds from nearby hot, young stars.

Why "Pillars of Creation"?

The name comes from the fact that these pillars are active sites of star formation—where new stars are "created" from collapsing gas clouds. However, astronomers believe that the pillars may already have been destroyed by a nearby supernova thousands of years ago, but because light takes time to travel, we still see them today.

Observations and Images

Hubble Telescope (1995, 2014, 2022): Provided high-resolution images, revealing intricate details of the gas and dust structures.

James Webb Space Telescope (2022): Captured the pillars in infrared, revealing hidden stars and deeper details.
The Pillars of Creation remain one of the most breathtaking astronomical phenomena, inspiring scientific study and artistic fascination alike.
