Circus Smirkus 2019: Charivari

This is the opening act of the Circus Smirkus 2019 Big Top Tour - this year's theme was "Carnival". The Artistic Director is Troy Wunderle, Creative Director is Mark Lonergan and the Composer is Peter Bufano.

In Medieval times "Charivari" meant the noisy banging of pots and pans, often done to mock 'serenade' a newly married couple on their wedding night. In today's circus, Charivari is part of the show where the audience meets several performers, all showing different skills, in one fast-paced act.
