Dining Cars, Waterfalls and Western Ghats: Deccan Queen, Full Journey

A full journey compilation aboard one of India's most historic trains. The Deccan Queen Express has been plying between Bombay and Pune for the past 7 seven decades, inaugurated during the British Raj in 1930. It remains arguably the most prestigious trains on the Central Railways and overall, one of the finest, punctual and well-maintained trains in India.

The first part of the video is taken from the Deccan Queen's dining car. It remains the only commercial passenger train in India to have a dining car. The breakfast is fantastic and glimpses of it are shown in the video.

The passage of the Queen through the magnificent Bhor ghats is depicted in detail, where the train descents more than 400 metres in the space of 28 kilometres. The monsoon clouds collide against the Sahyadri Hills, making for a surreal atmosphere with wisps of cloud and mist lodged in between hill ranges, lush green with vegetation. The rains give rise to a million waterfalls, pouring down the hills. The Queen crawls down the ghats, into the plains, meeting on the way the Mumbai Pune Intercity Express, and the LTT Visakhapatnam Express.
The Kalyan WCAM3 maintains a fine tempo with the Deccan Queen after Karjat, flying away through coastal Maharashtra. A bit before Kalyan, we meet the WDP4 hauled Udyan Express, and subsequently, have a sedate run through suburban Mumbai to reach Dadar, more or less on time.
