House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin made progress in their latest  stimulus talks Monday and are set to meet again tomorrow to decide if they will be able to pass a bill before the election. In a nearly one-hour phone call, the pair “continued to narrow their differences,” according to Nancy Pelosi’s spokesman, Drew Hammill. Pelosi has directed House committee chairs to work to resolve areas of disagreement with the White House, and the speaker and Mnuchin plan to talk again Tuesday. He explained that “the Speaker continues to hope that, by the end of the day Tuesday, they will have clarity on whether they will be able to pass a bill before the election,” he said. Pelosi said on Monday night that “we’ll see what tomorrow will bring and she is hopeful that they are going to get something done.” Ultimately she explained how the issue is that the republicans and the democrats “have different values. We don’t have shared values,” but even with that she noted that progress had been made in the last 24 hours on the testing issue. Pelosi’s 48 hour deadline to reach an agreement and on a second stimulus bill ends tomorrow so if we don’t see a bill agreed on tomorrow the will mean that we won’t get stimulus until after the election

Schumer came out and said yesterday that Senate Republicans are the “No. 1 reason there’s no agreement,” and they “won’t even go along with what Trump is willing” to get done. Because of this inaction, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday that he was planning a force vote to adjourn the Senate until after the presidential election "with the ability to come back into session if there is a bipartisan agreement on a stimulus relief package." However, ultimately lawmakers voted 48-42 against the motion. According to The Hill, when asked about the bill that Mcconnell is scheduled to vote on this Wednesday, Schumer said he couldn't comment on any specifics because “he just doesn’t know what [McConnell] plans to do" with it. He did go on to call the bill "inadequate, just up and down the line," and added that it's a "sham."

Senate Majority Mitch Mcconnel spoke on the senate floor yesterday and explained that “The speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi has said over and over again she does not believe it is better for workers to get something rather than nothing.’ He said that “we will see whether our Democratic colleagues in this chamber agree that families deserve nothing rather than something or whether they are ready to let the Senate make law across the huge areas where we do not even disagree” when they vote on the bills today and tomorrow

Today, on Tuesday a new stimulus bill for a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) will be voted and according to Mitch McConnell it should passed on in the Senate. However, in addition to this Majority Leader McConnell is working on passing a much smaller bill that will likely be up for a vote on Wednesday. According to an initial draft of the legislation obtained by FOX Business, McConnell is looking to spend less than $500 billion in targeted stimulus.Some of the key provisions are “It includes liability limitations for virus-related personal injury claims against businesses, “Creates a 2nd round of PPP”.
