Ficus pumila (Creeping Fig) at Plantmark Wholesale Nurseries

This video introduces Ficus pumila.

Ficus pumila, or the creeping fig as it’s commonly known, is a fabulous plant that will literally grow into a green wall. This evergreen plant will creep along walls or over surfaces to form a dense cover. As it grows, it forms a network of spreading foliage, creating a striking feature on any wall.

It has tiny little aerial roots that act as suction caps, keeping the creeper attached to the surface to which it is climbing. Keep in mind that roots will leave permanent impressions on surfaces it attaches itself too.
As you can see, the creeping fig has what appears to be two types of leaves. Smaller juvenile leaves are darker in colour and size, and more mature leaves are larger and glossier, and tend to grow away from the climbing surface.
Creeping figs responds well to pruning and look best if clipped several times throughout the year to maintain a neat appearance, often desired in formal gardens. It is drought tolerant once established and easy to propagate. Can be grown in full sun to part shade.

Ficus pumila is fast growing and will soften an industrial site, green up a courtyard and even cover a shape to create a topiary feature in the garden. Come in and grab a creeping fig today! Or have a look at our other creepers available at Plantmark.
