Idiotwin - Happiest In The Room (The Birthday Song) (Official Audio)

Track 1 from Happiest In The Room (The Birthday Song)

London-based music duo, Idiotwin, are delighted to announce the release of their new single: Happiest In The Room (The Birthday Song). This is accompanied by a cover of the song Codex by Radiohead off of their album The King of Limbs.

Birthdays used to feel simpler. The gifts, the guests, the cake with numerically accurate candles, the lungs too young to extinguish them in one go. Yet, the older we get, we find more that birthdays represent days lost, days survived, and days left. Celebrating a signpost for the passing of time gets harder with each year, and so we try our best to smile and try not to ruin the day for everyone, enduring, ensuring that we, the special birthday person on our special day are the happiest in the room.

For those that find themselves on their birthday, alone in their room, hiding from the fun, wondering where the years have gone and how many they've got left...

'Sitting in a room staring at the wall, I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me'

~ ii
Lyrics:

Hello sadness come to greet you
Old friend it's a sequel
The yearly ritual repeateth, older again
Oh I'm so happy to feel it
Sitting in a room staring at the wall
I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me
So don't come in
I would not want to spoil my own party

Happy birthday to our son
Here's to another one
I hope I'm always old to see you grow old
Right on schedule like we planned
Talking to a drunken man
Who says "I remember when you were this small"

Sitting in a room staring at the wall
I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me
So how's the weather now?
Don't come out, it's pissing it down
Less presents from less guests present
Out of sight, out of mind
I would trade all of these gifts
For another year of life

Birthdays aren't birthdays when you're old
When the candles on your cake go cold
Why remind me that time can't be controlled
Another year passes me by
Whilst rain falls from the sky
Then there was the time it came down in droves

(I'm so glad you made it,
So glad you're here celebrate it - with me
Let's sing, shall we?
Why do you cry, why do you cry
Because to birthday it to age and to age is to die
...yeah great, yeah... I'll see you next year)

Sitting in a room staring at the wall
I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me
Why am I older so fast?
Why is it that each year never seems to last?
Guests are here son, come on, come out
Don't come in, I'm pissing it down
Leave me to my catacomb
So I can remain happiest in the room

One year comes as one year goes
How many left? Tomorrow knows
With every one I near my total
Who made the schedule, damn the plan
Talking to a drunken man
I'd love again to be that small

I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me
