Collect Shopify Data to AWS Athena — No Code, No Scripts
👉 Get started free with OWOX Data Marts: https://c.owox.com/cnr8yt
In this video, I'll show you how to connect Shopify to AWS Athena — and turn that
connection into a reusable analytics system, not just another fragile data export.
AWS Athena is a powerful serverless query engine — but getting Shopify data into it in
a clean, structured, maintainable way is still a pain. Most teams end up with manual CSV
uploads to S3, custom Lambda functions hitting the Shopify Admin API, or expensive
connectors with zero visibility into what's actually happening under the hood.
Instead of maintaining a brittle pipeline that breaks on your next peak traffic day,
we'll build a central Data Mart in OWOX that writes clean, structured Shopify data
straight into AWS Athena — on a schedule, with full control over schema, fields, and
refresh logic.
By the end, you'll be able to:
- load Shopify orders, products, customers, and metafields into AWS Athena
- schedule automatic daily or incremental updates
- reuse the same Shopify Data Mart in Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Power BI or Excel
- generate AI-powered eCommerce insights on top of Shopify data in Athena
- deliver those insights straight into Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or email
This isn't "just another connector". With OWOX Data Marts, your Shopify → Athena
setup becomes part of a reporting system that:
- owns the logic and configuration for your connector
- documents the data structure and field meanings (order ID, revenue, product SKU,
customer LTV, fulfillment status, discount codes, metafields, etc.)
- controls historical backfill and incremental sync windows
- feeds multiple tools (Sheets, BI, AI) from one trusted Athena table
- keeps AWS Athena as your serverless analytics layer across your entire eCommerce stack
This approach helps data and eCommerce analysts:
- stop exporting the same Shopify report manually every week
- eliminate "which number is right?" conversations between ops and marketing
- deliver answers and insights on a schedule, not through endless tickets
What you'll learn:
- how to create a Shopify Data Mart in OWOX
- how to connect the Shopify API to AWS Athena without writing code or Lambda functions
- how to configure data nodes: orders, products, customers, metafields and more
- how to set up historical backfill plus safe incremental daily loads
- how to reuse the same Data Mart in Google Sheets and BI tools
- how to generate AI insights from your Shopify store data
- how to send those insights directly to Slack, Teams or email automatically
Who this is for:
- data analysts and data engineers working with AWS Athena
- eCommerce analysts and growth teams who need trusted, warehouse-grade store data
- AWS-native teams looking to centralize Shopify data in their existing infrastructure
- agencies managing Shopify analytics for multiple clients
- teams replacing manual S3 uploads and scripts with governed data infrastructure
If you're serious about eCommerce analytics, just "having Shopify data somewhere"
isn't enough. You need a system around that data — and that's exactly what
OWOX Data Marts gives you.
