Dr. Paul Hornby has more than 30 years experience studying herbs and supplements in human systems. With a doctorate degree in human pathology he has conducted research projects with Inuit in the Canadian Arctic, fishermen on India’s south coast and Mangyan people in the mountains of Mindoro, Philippines. For the past eighteen years Dr. Hornby has focused his attention on cannabis, and for that time has attempted to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the plant. By creating the first standardized natural product cannabis medicine in a capsule, Dr. Hornby has pioneered the way toward cannabis becoming a mainstream herbal medicine. “I do not synthesize or highly purify any of the plant components, but study them together; their synergy (entourage), activity and mechanism of action.” Dr. Hornby has published numerous scientific and lay articles on various aspects of cannabis medicine.

Martin A. Lee

Martin A. Lee is the cofounder and director of Project CBD, an educational service that reports on cannabis science, therapeutics and political economy. A widely published writer, Lee is the author of Smoke Signals: A Social History of Marijuana – Medical, Recreational and Scientific, winner of the American Botanical Council’s James A. Duke Award for Excellence in Botanical Literature. Lee is also co-founder of the media watch group FAIR (Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting) and the author of The Beast Reawakens and Acid Dreams: The CIA, the Sixties and Beyond. His articles have appeared in Rolling Stone, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Harper’s, Le Monde Diplomatique and many other publications. Lee has been a guest on more than 300 TV and radio talk shows and his work has been featured in several dozen documentary films. He has lectured at numerous universities and colleges in the United States and elsewhere.

Charles Whitfield, MD

Charles Whitfield MD specializes in psychatry, addiction medicine and trauma psychology. In his clinical practice he frequently recommends cannabidiol (CBD) for opiate (pain killer) and other drug withdrawal, anxiety, stress and sleep. He will discuss how CBD helps in these common medical problems and in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)─which many of his patients have. He will show how CBD from the hemp plant has ‘single edged sword’ properties in contrast to cannabis with high THC which has ‘double edged sword’ properties, which are clinically and practically important to differentiate. He is the author of several books, including the best selling Healing the Child Within. He is in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia.
