Legendary saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath, a Pioneer in promulgating the saxophone, a jazz instrument, in Carnatic music, Blessed with exceptional diligence and epitomized excellence. The Saxophone wizard is a recipient of Padma Shri award who made a valuable contribution to Carnatic music.
Kadri Gopalnath is an exceptional musician and his music is just a tranquillizer which makes you happy and motivated at the same time. The pace of his music is sound smooth and sultry or raucous and soulful, seamlessly blending into the delicate graces of Carnatic music. He pulls off complex gamakas and plays with ease, and his style just flabbergasts many musicians.
Eminent Carnatic music maestro Kadri Gopalnath was born in Mittakere in Sajeepa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada on December 6, 1949. He is bestowed with numerous awards and titles in his glorious career, to name a few are the Padma Shri, the Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award, Kalaimamani, Karnataka Kalashree, the Sangeetha Kalasikhamani, the Kamban Pugazh award and he had played at the Jazz Festival in Prague, the Berlin Jazz Festival, the International Cervantino Festival in Mexico, the Music Hall Festival in Paris. He was the first Carnatic musician to be invited to play at the BBC Promenade concert in 1994 in London. The blockbuster hit of the soundtrack for the movie Duet with the robust music instrument saxophone is still enduring and invincible.
