Spoiler alert! Don't read this if you want to be surprised by our truck reveal (it's pretty epic!) - But the best truck to tow a fifth wheel FOR US, was a 2018 Ford F350 Dually. The Ford F350 is a monster! Is it hands down a "better truck" than a comparable Chevy or Dodge? Nah. It's just the one that we found that would get the job done and that we liked. What about gas vs diesel? Is gas or diesel better to tow a fifth wheel? Short answer: if your trailer or fifth wheel is really heavy - over say 12,000 pounds, you may want to consider a diesel. They can simply tow more. Any truck can tow a trailer that doesn't weigh anything, but the best truck to tow something heavy is hands down a diesel. Should you get the best towing truck for your 1000-pound trailer? Nah, your F150 or Dodge 1500 is fine. But since we are full-time RV living now, we needed a big trailer and we needed a reliable towing truck. RV life is teaching us all kinds of stuff, and we'll share it all with you on this channel! What to get to tow an RV? We got you. Be sure to check the towing capacity of any truck you consider - directly from the manufacturer. Don't trust the sales guy!
