Fears over French troop withdrawal from Africa's Sahel
France has announced an end to its direct role in operations in Africa's Sahel, but the security of the region is as uncertain as ever.
The French president has for years struggled to convince Western allies to join an international task force against armed groups there.
The issue leaves European countries concerned about a rise in migrants due to human trafficking.
