Soundgarden - Spoonman (Artis the Spoonman Isolated Track) [Rock Band 2 Master Recording/Mix]

This is the isolated track of Artis the Spoonman's collaboration with Soundgarden on the song "Spoonman", synced with the original video. Artis' part starts with his solo and goes on until the end of the song.

The multitracks come from the game "Rock Band 2", as "the Rock Band 2 on-disc track list is comprised entirely of master recordings", according to developer Harmonix's official website.

Artis' master track in the game was only made available mixed with Chris Cornell and Ben Shepherd's vocals and Matt Cameron's percussion.
"'Ben [Shepherd] actually sang his vocal on 'Spoonman' through a Fender Twin Reverb,' Chris [Cornell] says. 'My vocals were all done with a Shure Vocal Master mike. It's just a piece of junk from the Seventies, but it sounds great. I wrecked about seven of them because I was singing up real close to get a grainy, distorted sound from it.'

"It was one of the most memorable events I've ever had in a recording studio in my entire life. He shows up at the studio with this, like, bedroll or something like that, and he opens it up and it's just all these metallic implements and we're, like, 'What the hell does he do with this?'

So we set up mics to just ambiently mic him - I think it was a pair of 67s - and he said, 'Make sure you got a video camera rolling, you're going to want to see this.' The song starts, he takes his shirt off, he starts picking random bits of metal and beating the s- out of himself, like, all over the place with the spoons and everything else.

It was incredible. All in time, by the way, and everyone in the control room is sitting, watching this - we've never seen anything like it. He was literally beating himself hard with these bits of metal, I'm not kidding.

And we did about five takes. There was blood everywhere. He was cutting himself up doing this. I have never heard the term 'suffer for your art' underscored with more acuity than that. It was amazing."
