Four Men Charged in Philadelphia for Allegedly Burning Police Vehicles
The US Attorney in Philadelphia has charged four men with arson for allegedly setting fire to police vehicles during protests after the killing of George Floyd on May 30.
Carlos Matchett, 30, Khalif Miller, 25, Anthony Smith, 25, and Ayoub Tabri, 24, face a minimum of seven years in federal prison if convicted, said United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania William M. McSwain during a press conference Thursday.
These charges follow two days of civil unrest following the shooting Monday of Walter Wallace Jr., a 27-year-old man with a history of mental health problems. Police said he was shot outside his home after ignoring orders to drop a knife.
