So I'd like to talk about my patient Julian. Julian came to me as quite a shy teenager and he really wanted a nice smile that he could feel confident with. When we have a look at his smile. We can see it's very narrow. There's a lot of dark spaces in the corners of his mouth. And there really just isn't enough room in his narrow palette to fit all of his teeth. And as a result, many of them are overlapping each other. And it's quite severe crowding. And he has some impacted canines. One of them being quite particularly, highly impacted. When we have a look in his mouth, we can see that the problem is magnified. His upper jaw is very narrow and because of that, the teeth cannot all fit in the right alignment. And for his lower teeth to then fit within his upper teeth, they'll have to then bunch up as well. So we've got crowding, severe crowding in both the upper and lower jaw. This picture really shows just how narrow his upper jaw was and there wasn't even enough room really for those canines to fit. So his treatment involved 18 months of Damon clear braces and together with elastics, and bite jumpers we were able to widen both his upper and lower jaw in order to straighten them out and get all of the teeth to fit in the proper alignment. So here you can see his before and after images of his smile. He has a much wider smile with a lot less dark shadows in the corners. It's a much fuller smile and he's definitely a much more confident and outgoing boy as a result of it.
