Tennessee death penalty opponents react to execution reprieve of Oscar Franklin Smith

Stacy Rector, executive director at Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, reacts to Gov. Lee issuing a temporary reprieve to Oscar Smith’s execution.

Oscar Franklin Smith was found guilty of the 1989 murders of his estranged wife and two stepsons. He was scheduled to be executed on April 21, 2022 but Gov. Lee issued a reprieve due to an issue with lethal injection preparation.
