Modi’s Kashi Corridor May Lead to Another Masjid Demolition, Fear Locals

Modi’s Kashi Corridor has put communal harmony on the edge in Varanasi. Several old temples have been leveled to the ground for the corridor’s construction. Amidst the ancient temples that once stood, stands an equally ancient Gyanvapi Masjid. Locals claim that the administration is conspiring against the mosque and wants it to be demolished too. Earlier this month, an idol of Nandi was buried right next to the Masjid by Hindu devotees. They tried to claim that it was once a temple and the area belonged to them.
