Mitchell began her career as a model and traveled the world. After her return to Toronto, she took acting lessons. In 2009, she had a guest role on Degrassi: The Next Generation as a model and she appeared in several commercials. In 2010, she got a recurring guest in the series Aaron Stone. She also had a guest role in the series Rookie Blue. She also starred in the video for the song Hold My Hand by Sean Paul. In the same year, she landed the role of Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars.
