Why My Youtube Channel Won't Grow in 2019

I have a lot of trouble with Sara Dietschy's "One for me, One for Them" approach to Youtube.
She's probably right, it's probably the best way to grow without getting burnt out and while still having fun - but I still have a lot of problems reconciling it.
Do I really want to title my videos for a search algorithm, or force more relevant searchable titles because it'll help my channel grow? The longer I've done youtube, the more I've felt a pressure to "play the game". The more it seems like a fork in the road.

What if it IS impossible to blend growing on youtube, and really fully being yourself?
If so, what should I choose?

I recently realized that my priorities with Youtube actually aren't growing - my top priorities are making content I enjoy, connection, and being myself/real. As hard as it is to hear or accept, that does limit some opportunities for exponential subscriber growth on Youtube. It would be better if I became an ultra specific niche on youtube or covered more searchable trending topics. But, at least for now, I personally don't want to do that. It's ok if I won't grow because of it. I'm happy and excited about creating and connecting here. I'm not really hungry for exponential amounts more.

What will you do to find the success you want? What will you NOT do to get the success you want?

Btw, I don't really have any hard feelings towards Sara Dietschy or her "One for Me, One for Them" thing. It probably IS great for growing. And if I were doing Youtube full time, I'd probably have to make that compromise as well. It's just not something I want to do.

Also, perhaps in the future I will cover some searchable relevant things here and there. I'm just very hesitant to do it if ever seems forced or isn't something I'm genuinely interested in. Sometimes searchability and my interests intersect like with my videos with/about Cody, Audrey or about nosmallcreator. Other times it totally doesn't feel natural and I've completely scrapped the ideas even though they probably would have "helped the channel out". Just a personal choice.
