On my 1950 FV Feather weight 40 sometimes referred to as the 40 minus due to the 6" prop and faster gearbox, the 1950's engine mount is non detachable, this means you cannot lower or raise the engine on the drive tube to suit your transom. The drive tube is 28.70mm diameter .
I need to raise the engine my Seagull Featherweight four inches so that the exhaust was around 2" below the water line.
This video shows you how I was able to set the seagull at the correct height.
Too low in the water and the back pressure in the exhaust will making starting impossible. My exhaust was 8" under water when I leaned over the transom to start the engine
