Wings Over China - Story of the AVG Flying Tigers Fei Hu Gen. Claire Lee Chennault

Documentary covers the story of the American Volunteer Group. It is better known as the famous Flying Tigers under the command of General Claire Lee Chennault and how the Flying Tigers covertly defended China before the US was officially at war with Japan. They flew the P-40 aircraft under a Chinese insigna. The report features rare interviews with Flying Tiger ace pilots such as David "Tex"Hill, Ed Rector, Charlie Mott, Erik Shilling, Dick Rossie and AVG nurse Emma Jane "Red" Foster. It also has interviews with Anna Chennault and CNAC or China National Aviation Corp pilots who flew vital supplies over the Himalayas to supply the Flying Tigers who were based in Western China. The documentary features narrated excerpts from General Claire Lee Chennault's diary as well as his autobiography, The Way of the Fighter. The full interviews filmed in 1997 with the AVG Flying Tigers are available on this channel.
