Casio MDV106 “Duro” Diver Watch In Depth Review

This is a review of the Casio MDV106-1AVTN "Duro" watch with its 200 Meter water resistance and classic Diver Watch style. Casio offers this watch in two color schemes. This is one of several watches on the market from several manufacturers which emulate the general style of diver’s watches like the Rolex Submariner. This one offers 200 meters of water resistance, a 120-position (unidirectional) rotating bezel, a date window at the 3 o’clock position and quartz accuracy to within 20 seconds per month. It has a screw-on back, an all-metal case and a screw down crown to help achieve that 200-meter water resistance. The watch battery should last about three years until it will have to be replaced. This watch uses Casio’s module 2784.

Although this watch is not considered a serious substitute for something like a Rolex or other high-end diver’s watches it still looks great, feels solid, keeps the time well and costs less than a couple tanks of gas (while a Rolex can cost as much as a used car). Plus, it's popular among those who want to do custom modifications of their watches. Some folks want to change out the bezel or even go further, like changing out the hands or the crystal. But if all you really want to do is swap out the standard, resin watch band for something else then it's very easy to do that too.
