Bill Larkin's Birdhouses

On this Shirley Bucket Excursion we journey to the west of Boggs Lake north of Loogootee, Indiana to see Bill Larkin's yard full of birdhouses.
After he retired from Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, Bill Larkin began growing flowers and his yard became a showplace when his 30,000 annuals were blooming. After a year of extreme drought and constant watering to keep the flowers alive, Bill decided he was done with flowers and he started building birdhouses and displaying them in his yard. He then added painted rocks to his pallet and the result is what you see here. Larkin gives one large birdhouse for each carload of people who visits his yard and everyone get a small birdhouse.

The address for Bill's yard is 5024 N Private Road 1215 E, Loogootee, IN 47553 Phone: (812) 709-9944
