Calopteryx splendens Park of Sile Treviso

Dimensions: wingspan 50-70 mm. Description: slender maiden flight by a little 'flaky, brightly colored wings that gradually tapering towards the base. The male is metallic blue and has wings with dark band (blue in specimens neosfarfallati) that starts from the nodule. In the species Calopteryx virgo, with which it can be confusing, this band begins the first of the nodule. The females are colored with metallic green wings tinged with brown and green-white pterostigma (pseudopterostigma). Nell'affine C. the latter is more distant from the apex virgo wing. In the male the pterostigma is absent. The legs in both sexes, are completely black. This character distinguishes it from C. haemorrhoidalis in which at least the tibiae are reddish.
