Yesterday (May 11, 2026), Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara held a press conference and dropped this:

“I also checked the released footage. Since this is my first time seeing it, I’d like to analyze it thoroughly.”

Japan is treating UAPs as a serious national security issue.

Kihara confirmed Japan is “gathering and analyzing information with great/serious interest” on unidentified objects in the air — in close coordination with the US and allies.

This follows the Pentagon’s May 8 release of 160+ files, including TWO videos filmed near Japan:
• 2023: Three circular objects (Japan area)
• 2024: Football-shaped object in the East China Sea (DOW-UAP-PR46)

On releasing Japan’s own UAP files?
Kihara: “Case-by-case decisions after comprehensively considering various factors, including whether it would reveal our intelligence-gathering capabilities.”

Japan is playing it cautious but clearly engaged.
