At the Cape Kiritappu (Hokkaido), endangered Sea Otters have come back, which are previously classified extinct in the early 20th century. And now they are breeding at this site although the success rate is not high. Mom stays near the baby all the time.
Sea Otters eats sea urchins which could deplete sea kelps. Sea kelps are sometimes called the forest of the sea and play an important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the ocean.
Therefore, sea otters are the guardians of the sea.
