Step back to 1337 as we continue 1337: The Stage is Set—this time with two boards that couldn’t be more different: Italy’s fractured city-states and Southeast Asia’s shifting trade powers.

Italy (1337):
The Papacy is not in Italy, leaving it fragmented as ever, between the Genoese and Venitian trade conflict, Milan and Florence fighting for influence inland, and Naples and Sicily eyeing each other to recover the lost Kingdom of Sicily.

Southeast Asia (1337):
On Java, Majapahit looks seaward while inland, Angkor and the Khmer Empire are in decline. Spice routes and monsoon winds decide winners.
