Pelican Bar in the middle of the ocean

Why Floyd Forbes bar in the middle of the Ocean ?
My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Pelican Bar immensely and we wondered why my new Jamaican friend would build a bar in the middle of the ocean. Legend has it that Floyd Forbes, the owner of Pelican Bar had a dream one night where he envisioned a bar out at sea built on stilts. During in our conversation I asked him if he can tread his business with my business in America . LOL we laughed .
Floyd set about building the bar he envisioned in his dream and completed construction in 2001. He named it “Pelican Bar” after the large flocks of Pelicans that resided on the sandbar.The bar is decorated with mementos such as shirts, hats, flags etc. left by previous guests. If you want you can have your name and the year you visited carved into the wood. That is if you can find a spot, My wife found her name written on shirt hanging by previous visitor, You can also buy handmade items there. More than likely you will see Floyd and a few of his friends playing dominos in a distance from the music of boom boom sound speaker. You can also order fish or lobster meals with Jamaican rise plus your favor drink and sit back and enjoy, Pelican Bar is one of those places that you can brag about when you tell your friends you visited Jamaica. Actually, I thought what if I build one just like that in Ethiopia the place called Lake Tana , Pelican Bar is Jamaica’s coolest place to visit. The easiest way to get there is to hire a taxi from Negril or Montego Bay to take you there and then hire a boat from Black River or Parottee Point. In case if I didn't mentioned there are no restrooms, dining area etc so do it before cause It’s not a formal establishment.
