Non-Obvious Times an Instrument Rating is REALLY Useful

The obvious use for your instrument rating is to fly in IFR weather, but there have been some times over the years that I've realized you can absolutely use those skills even in perfectly good VFR weather. If you don't already have your instrument rating, I highly recommend you get it! You can use it in SO many ways and it will make you a better pilot.
