Hibari - Not a particularly hard boss to beat, but she was surprisingly annoying to finish without taking damage. So after experimenting with different strategies for a while, I settled on the one in this video. When she floats in the air, she always gets knocked down after two heavy attacks. I tried to damage her until she was just about to enter her next phase, then let her back up. By doing this, the next time you hit her with a jump attack, she'll do her phase change dialogue and go into the spiderweb/bomb attack. After dodging that, you'll only need to hit her one more time to knock her back down. This way seems a bit safer since you shouldn't have to dodge as many of her attacks while trying to avoid/kill the minions she spawns.

Abobo - This is the boss most people are going to have trouble with on their first playthrough. He always blocks and tries to headbutt you after taking a few hits, and you can't reliably combo into most of your heavy/special attacks from just a couple of jabs. I found him much easier to deal with as Kyoko. She can hit him a couple of times and then go into her Chun Li lightning legs for a decent amount of damage. Sometimes it will even knock him down, giving you the chance to run in and stomp him a few times. Abobo's dive attack can be a pain as well since it homes in on you and is unblockable, but if you time your movement right, you can reliably avoid it. Once you understand how to safely fight him, he's actually not that hard to deal with.

Mami & Hasebe - I kept trying to beat them with Kyoko because her down+special attack (the spinning bird kick) does a ton of damage when you catch both bosses with it, but it just wouldn't work out. As strong as that move is, it has slow startup and leaves Kyoko vulnerable for a little while after it ends, so it's risky to use if you want to avoid taking damage completely. Eventually I tried out Misako and found her a lot more reliable. Her dropkick can almost always be combo'd into from a couple of jabs, and even if it gets blocked, she recovers in time to stay safe. As for the boss strategy, I thought it was best to focus on Hasebe and not give her too much space. Her sliding punches are much harder to avoid than Mami's spiral arrow, especially since she does it too fast to react to. She didn't seem to do it as often if you stay in close range. And for the same reason, you'll want to finish their 3rd phase by hitting Hasebe. You don't want her zig zagging punches all over the screen while you're trying to dropkick the ghost.

The other bosses are pretty straightforward, I think. Sabuko gave me some trouble, but mainly because of the two yakuza she summons between phases. Noize takes a bit of memorization to dodge her Guitar Hero attacks, but you can dodge most of it on reaction. Just stay at the very bottom of the screen and you'll have enough time to see where you should jump to. You won't be able to see notes as they're about to hit you, so I just jumped right as they were a little below her shoulders, and it always worked out.

So yeah, I enjoyed this game. The graphics, art, animation, and music are good, the combat is fun once you start unlocking more abilities, and Misako & Kyoko are likable characters. If you aren't put off by the adventure and RPG elements, you'll probably like it too.

Full disclosure: WayForward provided me with a download key for coverage on my channel. I wasn't sure what I should do with this game; it's too long to post a full playthrough in a single video unless you skip everything that's skippable, and I didn't want to post one video of each area, so I settled on a boss compilation. Unfortunately you just can't make full use of the combat mechanics against them, so maybe I could have done something better.

If you want to play this, it's available now on every platform for $29.99.
