On October 2, 1985, Michele Avila went out with one of her friends Laura Doyle, completely unaware of the ambush awaiting her. Doyle drove Michele into the woods where Doyle and former best friend Karen Severson confronted Michele and subsequently attacked and drowned her. Once back into town, they concocted a story about Michele running off with three men. Savannah explores how Karen and Laura were ultimately found out, the strange behavior and manipulation of Michele's mother Irene Avila, and, after being released, how Karen has tried to benefit from the incident.
