2012 Subaru Outback Test Drive & Car Review

http://www.autobytel.com/subaru/outback/2012/ The 2012 Subaru Outback is an enticing crossover because it drives wonderfully, has great features, is comfortable, and gets solid fuel economy. But maybe most important is that the Outback rides on Subaru's World Famous AWD system. If you like the Impreza you will love the Outback. It looks like a pumped up version of the Impreza sedan with its signature headlights and front grill. But the Subaru Outback is much bigger since it's a crossover wagon.

The 2012 Subaru Outback has two different Boxer engine options. The first is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque. If you opt for the CVT transmission the fuel economy figures top out at 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The larger more powerful engine of the two is a 3.6 liter 6-cylinder that makes 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft. of torque. This engine gets 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. All 2012 Subaru Outback models come with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive which distributes power to all 4 wheels resulting in the maximum amount of traction which of course translates to a safer vehicle.

The Outback is one of the most popular wagons on the road today and this vehicle is known for its usefulness and practicality. The rear hatch opens to reveal a huge amount of cargo volume with the seats up and a hard top surface that is tough and durable. With the seats folded down; the Outback swells to 71 cubic feet of storage space.

On the inside Subaru has been working hard to make the cabin as roomy as possible. Second row seating is quite spacious and the scalloped-backed front seats provide a little extra leg room. The 2012 Subaru Outback gets the upscale look. While the materials may not be luxury quality, they look great and are very durable. The brushed metal trim is simple and clean.

The 2012 Subaru Outback drives great. As the driver you are treated to an engaging driving experience. The engine is strong, the steering is responsive, and wagon rides quite well. The Outback is the crossover for those who are not into the tradition SUV look. Rather the Outback is more along the lines of a wagon. Subaru has given the Outback a pretty cool and slick look for the 2012 model year. The Outback is loaded with features, can go off-road with ease, and gets good fuel economy. Base price for the 2012 Subaru Outback is $23,295.
