IDAC head condemns Gen Mkhwanazi's 'blood will flow' remark

Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia says he was never informed about the planned arrests of high-ranking SAPS members by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).

The warrant was later reportedly put on hold due to Crime Intelligence Head, Dumisani Khumalo's involvement in security preparations ahead of the June 30 demonstrations. Cachalia described the handling of the attempted arrest of Khumalo and KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi as disappointing.

Meanwhile in a NewS24 article, IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson has criticised Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's "at war" and "blood will flow" remarks. Johnson questioned Mkhwanazi's appearance at the Brooklyn Police Station and revealed she had raised concerns about his comments. Former Western Cape Police Commissioner and security analyst Dr Lennit Max joins us via video link.
