Describing innovation in these ways implies that just because something is new or not yet known, it is not innovation unless it also creates value for several people.

Hence, the conclusion would be that for something to be called innovation, it needs to be (1) NEW, and it needs to (2) create VALUE. Using this definition would separate that which is only new (an invention) or only creates value (what we may call optimization or streamlining), from innovation.

This tells us that for something to be innovation, it must successfully spread to people who can extract its value.
