Why We Mounted 4 Amps Directly on This Custom Quad 13" W7 Box ($35K Build)

Mounting your amplifier directly to your subwoofer box is one of those moves that'll get you roasted in the comments — and usually for good reason. Vibration is an amp killer. Solder joints crack, MOSFETs fail, and you'll spend months chasing gremlins you can't explain.

But this build isn't a standard situation. Four JL Audio 13" W7s. Four RD1500/1 mono amps — one dedicated to each sub. A custom enclosure built over an inch thick, heavily braced, multiple layers of MDF. There was no space elsewhere in the vehicle, and the sheer mass of this box changes the equation entirely.

We still don't recommend this for most builds. But when the box is built right, the rules shift.
