Liszt - Tarentelle de Cui, S482 (Székely)

Liszt's enormous paraphrase on the orchestral Tarentelle by César Cui was one of his last fantastic flights of imagination, comparable with his reworking of Saint-Saëns’s Danse macabre. There is something remarkably Mephistophelean about the work, and the brief respite before the coda draws a parallel with the Waltzes.
