#MuseumMomentOfZen: No. 17

Today’s #MuseumMomentofZen is brought to you by Paul Reed.

Paul Reed (American, 1919-2015) spent much of the 1960s experimenting with paintings that looked similar to this one. He chose an organic shape—a curved, irregular shape that resembles objects in nature—for the center. The evenly arranged dots and triangle at the bottom are geometric shapes—precise, even shapes that can be easily measured such as circles, squares, and triangles. Why do you think Reed chose blue and orange for "No. 17"?
