Myofascial units = fascia + muscles
“Myo” means muscle, while “fascia” refers to the connective tissue that covers and supports the muscles throughout your entire body. They are always connected in some way.
Think of fascia like a sheet of plastic wrap that holds the contents of your body in place. With the exception of large, independent sheets of fascia like your IT band and plantar fascia (bottom of the foot), we cannot really train or work our fascia independently of muscle. So muscle work is actually musculofascial work.
