Hand-raising a Blue-and-Gold Macaw

Perth Zoo has had its first breeding success with Blue-and-Gold Macaws. The chick, Sakari, was hatched on 24 January 2010 and is making very good progress.

The decision was made to hand-raise Sakari after its parents failed to successfully raise another chick born a week earlier.
