Community, Leadership, and Change | UNGANISHA Project Launch

It was an honour to capture the launch of the UNGANISHA Anti Black Racism Commitment Project here in Calgary.

From the opening conversations at the Werklund Centre to the Anti Black Racism training sessions and community discussions, the energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to meaningful change and equity in action.

This six month residency will support 15 African, Caribbean, and Black emerging professionals through leadership development, hands on experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities designed to create long term impact.

Funded by Canadian Heritage and delivered alongside incredible partners including Heritage Park Historical Village, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Rozsa Foundation, Dance Studio West, The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, ActionDignity, and Centre for Newcomers, the project brought together community leaders, organizations, and government representatives working toward a stronger and more inclusive future.

Grateful to document moments and stories that create real community impact through visual storytelling.
