Operation 'Greif', also known as Operation Griffin
As their last trick the Germans planned to create chaos and confusion among the American troops.
The essence of the plan was to form a unit consisting of German soldiers who spoke fluent English with an American dialect.
It was planned for these Germans to be dressed up as American soldiers and equipped with American weapons, tanks and vehicles.
