THE SHADOW CATCHER

Lukas, a young filmmaker racing to meet a festival deadline, locks himself in an edit suite to finish what he calls his “true vision.” Exhausted and sleep deprived, he clashes with his pragmatic producer who demands he cut the film’s final scene. Alone in a dark studio, Lukas begins to see something inside his footage, a shadow figure that doesn’t belong there. The flicker of monitors, glitching timelines, and fragments of his late grandmother’s voice blur the line between memory and hallucination. His Oma once warned him of Der Schattenfänger, a thief of light that grows where light is neglected.
As the night stretches on, the shadow takes form as Lukas’ Doppelgänger, a reflection of his own ambition, doubt, and supressed rage. It begins editing the film for him, sharpening it, clarifying it, but at what cost? Forced to confront whether the shadow is destroying his vision or completing it,
Lukas must decide whether to reject the darkness and lose the film or integrate it and reclaim his vision. Dawn arrives after what seems to be an unending night, Lukas merges light and shadow, accepting that are both necessary to create.
