Singapore Airlines is regarded as one of the best air carriers in the world and they recently started flying their newly delivered Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to Manila. The business class seats on the 787-10 are laid out in a 1-2-1 staggered configuration. The odd numbered window seats sit closer to the window, while the even numbered window seats are closer to the aisle. Also, the even numbered center seats are “honeymoon seats” and sit close together, while the odd numbered center seats are near the aisle and away from each other. All business class seats are full flat and have direct aisle access, which is a huge improvement to SQ’s current angled flat seats for their regional business class routes. What I liked:

Changi Airport- Singapore’s Changi Airport won the best airport in the world for a very good reason. Easy access to the city center, 3 clean, well-maintained, and beautiful terminals that are interconnected both airside and landside, and the plethora of food and shopping options within the airport truly makes this airport one of a kind. The Lounge- The Silverkris Lounge in Terminal 2 is not quite as spacious as the one in terminal 3, but it still offers plenty of comfortable seating and tons of food and beverage options.

The airplane - This was our first time to fly the 787-10 Dreamliner and we totally loved it. Large windows, spacious cabin, and the more humid and lower altitude cabin helps the body cope better with air travel.

The seats - I was very excited about SQ’s 787-10 business class product, but worried that they might feel claustrophobic. I’m happy to report that they are spacious, comfortable and private. For bigger folks, I would recommend choosing a seat near the aisle for added space.

The food - Onboard catering was excellent, as expected. For starters, a scallop salad was served. For the main entrée, I used SQ’s “Book the Cook” and pre-ordered the Japanese Soya Beef filet, and it did not disappoint. My companion ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with kale and quinoa and he said it was delicious. Both orders were nicely plated and presented as well.

The IFE - This plane uses SQ’s Krisworld Entertainment system. The interface was very intuitive and it’s easy to navigate to the great selection of movies, TV programs, music, and games.

What I didn't like:

No air vents - The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of overhead air vents. The cabin gets rather warm during boarding and I end up having to fan myself with the safety card to cool down.

It was OK...I guess:

The onboard service - SQ is well known for their excellent onboard service and this flight was no different. The crew was attentive and proactive to offer warm and polished service to business class passengers. The only minute problem that I noticed is that it seems SQ is only using one cart for the whole cabin. The service started on the port (left) side aisle first before moving on the starboard aisle, unlike other carriers which offers beverage and meal service to both aisles at the same time. It took a while for the passengers on the right aisle to get served, but no biggie.
