When Longines came out with the original ref. 7042 in 1959, it didn’t reinvent the wheel of the already bustling dive watch category but did become an instant favorite for its dual-crown super-compressor configuration and superb proportions. Longines eventually brought back the 7042 in the form of the Legend Diver in 2007. But it wasn’t until 2023 when the timepiece hit its sweet spot with a new 39mm case size. We were able to get hands-on with the beautiful white dial variant of the Legend Diver, and it could be one of the most compelling vintage-style dive watches to date.
