Choosing Window Blinds For Our Enclosed Patio-Porch | Cordless Vinyl Room Darkening/Light Filtering

Publishing another video which we recorded in June of 2022 but did not get a chance to edit and publish it until today. This is another video under the segment of converting our open air patio into a multi-purpose room.

With so many styles of blinds and shades to choose from, shopping for the right window treatments is a daunting task. There are so many styles to choose from. So many terminologies as well - cordless, cellular. Cellular shades – also referred to as honeycomb shades or cell shades – are among the most popular window treatments. Their sleek style, light control and insulating properties are desirable.

There are many window treatments available on the market, including drapery, shades, shutters, plantation shutters, and blinds. What Are Blinds? Blinds are a type of window covering composed of hard slats which can be adjusted to control the amount of light that enters a dwelling. These window coverings are installed at the top of the window frame in a hidden box called the headrail, and feature vanes, or slats, made out of faux or real wood, plastic, vinyl, or metal, which you can pull up and down or side-to-side, with or without a cord, to open and close.

Light-filtering shades, blinds, and curtains let you control the amount of light you want to let in, whether you want a soft, warm glow and less light. Room-darkening window treatments, in contrast, don't allow you to vary the light. Obviously for us, low cost, cheap and inexpensive are the main considerations.

Our project involved converting our existing open air patio into an enclosed porch / multi-purpose three season room (sun-room, gymnasium, media & entertainment center, guess room, home-office etc.).

Initially, we had intended for this video series to be a how-to or DIY tutorials and guide, but because we are now rushing to get this project completed, the approach has now changed to a vlog-style video showing updates and progress made since the last publication.

The reason for rushing is because our sister Amira is getting married in June (not a lot of time left and we are basically counting down days) and we planned to have a backyard wedding. The room will be a focal point and will house a pelamin. The pelamin or wedding dais is specially created for the bersanding ceremony during Malay weddings.
