The WHO says 15,000 patients need urgent evacuation, but Israel refuses to reopen the Rafah crossing or allow treatment in nearby East Jerusalem hospitals—the route that worked before the war. In the year to August 2025, at least 740 people died on waiting lists, including 140 children. This week alone, three young children died from treatable conditions: leukemia, cancer, and hepatitis.

At the current evacuation rate of just 41 patients per week, thousands more Palestinian children will die waiting for Israel to enable the medical access they desperately need.
