🔁 Day 71 of Mastering DSA: Stacks & Queues — Real-World Applications and Problem-Solving Deep Dive!
Today, I explored the depths of Stacks and Queues — solving a mix of classic and advanced problems that test not only understanding of the data structure but also logic design and optimization.
🔍 What I Solved Today:
✅ LeetCode Problem 1: Zuma Game
A classic backtracking + memoization challenge where I optimized ball removal with a clever DFS + pruning + cache technique to avoid recomputation. The real trick was recursive shrinking of the board and state serialization.
✅ LeetCode Problem 2: Baseball Game
A great example of a stack-based simulation, where past scores dictate current outcomes. Carefully handled stack operations (pop, push, peek) and logic for symbolic operators like "C", "D", and "+".
✅ LeetCode POTD: Find Numbers with Even Number of Digits
A quick but elegant application of log10() to count digits and apply lambda filtering with count_if. It reaffirmed the power of STL and mathematical insights.
✅ GFG POTD: Find Length of Loop in Linked List
Used a hashmap-based cycle detection (alternative to Floyd’s algorithm) to track visited nodes and calculate the length of a loop. A good practical reminder of how to work with linked lists and cycles.
🎯 Key Learnings:
How to serialize and memoize complex recursive states using string keys.
Leveraging stacks for undo/redo style simulation problems.
Mathematical tricks (like log10) to simplify numerical properties.
Detecting cycles in linked lists through hash mapping vs pointer techniques.
📣 Let’s Connect and Grow Together!
If you're diving into DSA or prepping for coding interviews, I’d love to hear what you’re solving today!
