Manipur Mukna Kangjei Association Urges Unity to Preserve Traditional Sport

Manipur State Mukna Kangjei Association general secretary Abujam Aboy Meitei has called on people from all walks of life, civil society organisations, students unions, government organisations, public and private institutions outside the state to join hands in preserving the traditional sport which is deeply engrained in Manipur's culture since time immemorial as powerful forces outside the state are attempting to misappropriate the indigenous ancient sport by depriving the state's natives their own heritage.

He also referred to recent controversy surrounding Mukna Kangjei when it surfaced that the District Institute of Education and Training under State Council for Education and Training had published a textbook titled 'Learning Through Traditional Games' for the academic year 2023-24 wherein this traditional and indigenous game was attributed to Mizoram.

He said both the state and centre were made to clarify about the mistake.
