'Most unreliable bus I've ever seen': Riding Route 30

Orleans commuters relying on OC Transpo's Route 30 between Millennium Park and Ride and Blair Station are experiencing chronic delays driven by traffic congestion on Brian Coburn Boulevard, Jeanne d'Arc Boulevard and Highway 174. CTV's Leah Larocque rode the route alongside Ottawa councillor Catherine Kitts and her staffer Sarah Crema, boarding the 7:28 a.m. bus, which was already six minutes late at departure. Transit user Dominique Marchand, a regular Route 30 rider, says the bus simply never comes on time. The journey to Blair Station took 45 minutes, with the group still in Orleans at the 8:10 a.m. mark. Kitts says long-term infrastructure solutions, including widening Brian Coburn Boulevard and building the Cumberland Transitway, are needed. OC Transpo is working to improve bus reliability but faces an aging fleet, a maintenance backlog and a shortage of mechanics.
